Connaught, McKenzie Towne Top Condo Resales

Resale activity of condos in the second quarter of the year were led by a historic downtown neighbourhood and a new community in the southeast.

The inner-city southwest community of Connaught out-paced all ends of the city with 140 deals between April 1 and the end of June, says the Calgary Real Estate Board.

These sales were for an average price of $391,132. The second highest sales came in the community of McKenzie Towne, where 100 condos changed hands at an average price of $288,608.

For quadrants, southwest Calgary was the busiest last quarter.

Zone C, which roughly covers the quadrant, reached 1,301 transactions. These homes sold at an average of $375,750.

Behind Connaught, the top-selling communities include Victoria Park with 83, Evergreen with 56 and there were 48 sales in Mission.

Zone A, which translates to northwest Calgary, had 748 sales in the second quarter. Condos in this area sold for an average price of $329,788.

Panorama Hills had the most sales in the community with 70. It was trailed by 43 sales in Country Hills Village and 42 in Royal Oak.

Southeast Calgary, or Zone D, saw new owners for 349 homes last quarter.

Average sales in this zone went for $310,278.

Trailing McKenzie Towne, the communities with highest sales were Cranston with 39, Copperfield at 27 and there were 25 transactions in New Brighton.

In Zone B, which is mostly the northeast side, there were 232 sales. Its average price was the lowest in the city at $228,159. In Taradale, 26 condos changed hands, which was the busiest in the zone. Saddleridge, Pineridge and Marlborough Park all had 20 sales last quarter.
